Have you noticed that after you eat, you are more exhausted than usual? Are allergies, eczema and asthma your reality? Food sensitivity can manifest in many ways. The Alcat Test is a lab based immune stimulation test in which a patient's WBC's (White Blood Cells) are challenged with various substances including foods, additives, colorings, chemicals, medicinal herbs, functional foods, molds and pharmaceutical compounds. The patient's unique set of responses help to identify substances that may trigger potentially harmful immune system reactions. Our allergy test objectively classifies a patient's response to each test substance as reactive, borderline or non-reactive. Based on these classifications, a customized elimination/rotation diet may be designed to effectively eliminate the specific triggers of chronic immune system activation. By reducing this ongoing burden - and in particular, by reversing the sustained and destructive inflammation it produces - normal body functions and immune system balance can be improved.
Vitamin and Nutrient Deficiencies
Most adults who are taking multivitamins are still nutritionally deficient. Vitamin, mineral, and antioxidant deficiencies contribute to conditions such as arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Micro-nutrient testing measures the functions of selected vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and essential micro-nutrient within the patient’s white blood cells. Once these deficiencies are identified, an oral and I.V. protocol can be customized per each patient's individual need(s).
Telomeres are sections of genetic material at the end of each chromosome whose primary function is to prevent chromosomal fraying when a cell replicates. A SpectraCell’s Telomere Test can determine the length of a patient’s Telomeres in relation to the patient’s age. The Telomere Score is calculated based on the patient’s average Telomere length in peripheral whole blood cells. The patient's Telomere Score is then compared to Telomere lengths from a population sample in the same age range as the patient. This determines the patient’s percentile score. Telomere lengths shorten with inflammatory diets, or diets that increase oxidative stress. These diets include: refined carbohydrates, fast foods, processed foods, sodas, artificial sweeteners, trans fats and saturated fats. To slow down Telomere shortening, one's diet should consist of large amounts and variety of antioxidants that improves oxidative defense and reduces oxidative stress. Consuming 10 servings of fresh and uncooked fruits and vegetables, mixed fiber, monounsaturated fats, omega-3 fatty acids, cold water fish, and high quality vegetable proteins will help preserve Telomere length.
Have you ever wondered if heavy metals are contributing to the symptoms you are experiencing? Exposure to heavy metals can occur from many sources including vaccinations, dental amalgams (silver fillings) and implants, orthopedic implants, occupation and environmental exposures, food, water, cosmetics, jewelry, and cookware (just to name a few). Heavy metals can be present in your body with or without being the root cause of your symptoms. There are two types of heavy metals testing offered at the clinic to help you determine whether heavy metal detoxification is right for you. The first is MELISA heavy metal profiling. This is a simple blood test that allows you to determine if your immune system is negatively reacting to metals present in your body and are contributing to your symptoms. Test results allow your doctor to determine if heavy metal detoxification treatment is necessary and how quickly you should begin treatment. We also use this test to determine, in advance, if your child is likely to have a negative response to a future vaccination. Prices vary call to inquire. The second type of testing are unprovoked and provoked heavy metal tests. These tests are used to determine if you are currently being exposed to heavy metals and if heavy metals have not been adequately excreted from your body. These tests can be performed from a simple blood draw and/or urine specimen (depending on your insurance status) for either no cost to you or a maximum of $60.00 each. Comparing these unprovoked and provoked values allows your doctor to determine if you are in need of heavy metal detoxification treatment.
This testing offers much more than a traditional lipid panel or particle size testing. It tells us specifically what genes you have inherited from your parents as well as what treatments you, individually, will or will not respond to. These results enable Dr. Knights to make more refined decisions regarding your treatment options and effectively minimize your risk.
